Sunnyside- more weekend shootings

Vehicle's five occupants uninjured in Saturday morning shooting

Saturday morning at approximately 1:40 a.m. shots rang out in the area of East Grant Avenue and South Fifth Street.

Sunnyside police were alerted to the incident by four callers, and made contact with five juveniles in a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer that had been shot at.

According to the information provided to officers, the Lancer was traveling southbound on South Fifth Street when occupants of the vehicle noticed a green mini-van following them.

The 17-year-old driver of the Lancer attempted to turn on East Grant Avenue when occupants of the van began firing at his vehicle.

Sunnyside police recovered two bullets from the Lancer, and have determined two separate guns were fired at the victim's vehicle.

Minor injuries resulting from shattered glass were reported by the occupants of the Lancer.

Sunnyside police have no known suspects in the case and the investigation is ongoing.

Shots were reported fired at two vehicles in the 700 block of South Eighth Street just after 11 p.m. Friday, and more than three shots were reported fired just after 10 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of South Sixth Street [AGAIN]. Police were unable to recover evidence at either scene.
